You first saw Tamannaah Bhatia(Tamannaah Bhatia) in the 2005 movie “Chand Sa Roshan Chehra”, where she did a wonderful job despite the fact that it was her film debut. She then moved on to work in major South Indian films and now she is a well-known actress in Tamil and Telugu language films.  Tamannaah Bhatia is also a professional model.

“Chand Sa Roshan Chehra” was her first and only Hindi film. It was a love story, punctuated with beautiful western locations and melodious romantic solo music numbers. Tamannaah played the heroine despite the fact that it was her first movie.

Her second movie was her debut in Telugu cinema (or as other people call it, “Tollywood”). Again she played the lead female character opposite Manoj Kumar and the movie was called “Sri”. In 2006, she first appeared in the Tamil film industry with Ravi Krishna in the film “Kedi”, produced by A.M. Rathnam.

“Kedi” received a lot of hype as a heartwarming movie, a wholesome entertainment about three young people trapped in an amusing love triangle. Although this was just Tamannaah’s third movie, she did very well in the scene-stealing lead female character that had shades of Vijayashanthy (Mannan) and Ramya Krishnan (Padyappa). She was perfect in her role and therefore received a number of positive feedback such as, “Her mann

erisms and body language perfectly suits the character.”

Tamannaah Bhatia quickly became a bankable lead star and had three major projects in 2007. Her first major box office success was in that year in the film “Happy Days”, where she received yet again positive reviews from the media and moviegoers. The trendy film about what teenagers want to be was a Telugu language film and was therefore considered Tamannaah’s return movie to Tollywood.

Her next movie was “Kalloori”, which is again about the plight of teenagers. It is a dramatic movie about what being a teenager really means; an inspiring movie about poor teenagers who had dreams of making it big someday and somehow be able to settle down. Once again, the actress took the lead role and gave a strong performance.

In 2008, she had one major film and two where she only played cameo roles. It was in 2009 that she made another major cinematic success in the movie “Padikathavan”, where she shared the lead role with Dhanush. Her next film, “Ayan” was a Tamil blockbuster and where she solidified her reputation as a major female star in the Tamil film industry.

Her next film, “Aananda Thaandavam”, was not anywhere near her earlier successful movies. She did give a strong and positive performance, which was more memorable than the film itself. She quickly redeemed herself in her next film, “Kandein Kadhalai”, which was a successful remake of the Hindi blockbuster, “Jab We Met”.

In 2010, she starred in the commercially successful “Paiyaa”, produced by Lingusamy. This romantic-action flick centered on her character and her jobless lover as they made an exciting and fun journey together from Bangalore to Mumbai. The summer film received positive reviews that described it as a “road movie laced with mass elements and extraordinary songs”, a “jolly good ride”, with a “credible performance, which makes up for the plot holes” and was considered as the producer’s “best work”, with  “eye-catching camera work”, “crisp editing”, and “exotic set designs”.

Halfway into the year 2011, Tamannaah Bhatia has already appeared in six movies, five of which featured her in top roles. The films included “Siruthai”, a Tamil action film. Again, as most of her films, “Siruthai” was a commercial success.

You may have first known Indian actress, Sindhu Tolani, as the model girl for Fair & Lovely cream in the North before she made it big in Telugu cinema. She walked into the movie industry onboard the low-budget Telugu movie “Aithe” and made headlines despite the fact that the film did not do well. Her first major movie came later in another Telugu movie “Athanokkade”.

This beautiful actress is 5’3” tall, with light brown eyes and an amazing body. She has a degree in Sociology and loves to dance, sing and go horseback riding. She was born and raised in Mumbai.

Her career in the Tamil movie industry took off in 2004 when she starred in the Tamil film “Sullan”, a major film co-starred by Dhanush and directed by Ramana. She was then only 20 years old. The movie became a major blockbuster and officially launched the actress’s promising acting career.

Her next film, “Manmadhan”, was again a major hit, thus solidifying her place in the Indian movie industry. People loved her, and very quickly she made more major appearances in a number of movies. She was constantly showered with positive reviews for several roles including the ones in “Majaa”, “Manmadhan” (Tamil) and “Bathukamma” (Telugu).

In all, the sexy Sindhu Tolani has 30 films to her credit. Most of her movies are in Telugu language and a few of them are “Gowtam SSC” in 2005, “Sarada Saradaga” in 2006, “Phote  Poni” also in 2006, “Vishakha Express” in 2008, “Kick” in 2009 and “Baava” in 2010. “Baava” bombed in the box office, but Sindhu’s fans still loved her performance.

Sindhu performed in only 10 Tamil films. Some of these movies include “Majaa”, in which she was featured only as a special appearance. The film is a dramatic movie about a family and a young couple who struggled in keeping their relationship aflame.

Her last Tamil movie was filmed in 2008, but it didn’t do well with critics and moviegoers. The title was “Pandhayam”, an action-packed melodramatic movie. Sindhu’s character was the love interest of a criminal and murderer that has turned on a new leaf and had become a minister.

This alluring actress with a body to die for didn’t make many Hindi movies. She was part of the Hindi film “50 Lakh” in 2007, which again bombed in the box office. The movie focused on the exploits of five friends and tackled important issues in poverty and society, but critics were quick to point out several plot and cinematic flaws.

Sindhu also starred in a stage show called “Netru, Indru, Naalai” by Mani Ratnam. Although she has not won any acting awards and has not figured in many blockbuster movies, she remains a well loved actress especially by her loyal fans. Her sweet face and spicy image help in keeping it that way.

Sindhu Tolani loves being an actress. She said, “I wanted to act in films since childhood. I am happy with all the films I am working on (and)… do not have any problems that these (movies) are not big.”

The lovely and extremely attractive is a popular Indian singer.  Her voice is one the loveliest and most popular playback voices in Hindi films, as well as in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu and Tamil. A playback singer sings for movie soundtracks, prerecorded tracks for movies or as singing voices to be lip-synced by the movie stars.

She is not just any playback singer, but an award winning at that. She received a National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer and Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent for her work in “Devdas”

, her first Bollywood project. In all, she has lent her enchanting voice to more than 180 movies and received four National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards South and five Filmfare Awards.

Born on March 12, 1984 in Durgapur, West Bengal, Shreya Ghoshal traces her roots to Dhaka, Bangladesh. She grew up in the small town of Rawatbhata near Kota, Rajasthan. She was raised by two unique individuals – her father was a plant engineer for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India and her mother has a post-graduate degree in Literature.

Little Shreya first fell in love with singing when she was only four years old: her mother believed in her singing abilities early on and took her to be trained in classical Hindustani music in Kota. As a little child, she joined the children’s special episode of the “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” TV singing contest on Zee TV. She won not only the competition but also the heart of Kalyanji, one of the TV show’s judges.

Kalyanji trained the young superstar for 18 months. After that time, Shreya continued her training in classical Hindustani with the continued guidance of her supportive mother. She then moved to Mumbai and studied at the Atomic Energy Central Schools (AECS) and later at SIES College.

She competed at “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” for a second time and that was when she caught the attention (and ears) of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a well-known movie director. In 2000, the director offered her to supply the singing voice of the female character in the movie “Devdas”. And the rest is history.

She took on so many projects that it is difficult to keep count.  She won several awards including the National Film Award for the song “Bairi Piya”. She was recognized several times by Filmfare Awards and the State Film Awards. She was first known in the South for her song “Yen Chellam” and a duet, “Munbe Vaa”.

Meanwhile, she entered the scene in Malayalam movies through an album created by Alphons Joseph, a well-known Indian composer. In 2010, this popular singer who also looks like a movie star sang for “When Harry Tries to Marry”, an English independent film.

A few movie makers did notice that Shreya Ghoshal indeed sounds and looks like a star. She made an on-screen appearance in “Saaya” and for a jewelry store ad. She is truly one of the most important figures in Indian cinema today, and she doesn’t even have to show her pretty face in the camera.

Reema Sen is a hot and sexy Indian actress and model. Not to be confused with Raima Sen, Rimi Sen or Riya Sen. Reema Sen was born to a middle class family in Kolkata. She studied in Calcutta and then moved with her family to Mumbai, where she began her professional career as a model.

She appeared in several ad campaigns in Mumbai before she landed her first movie assignment in “Chitram”, a low-budget Telugu film. In this minor movie in 2000, Reema played the character Janaki, a bewildered young Indian student who just arrived from the Unites States. Her love interest in the movie was played by Uday Kiran, with whom her character had an early pregnancy.

Her other movie, “Minnale”, was much more successful. It is a comedic Tamil movie that was released in 2001 on Valentine’s Day and received positive reviews. Some critics described the movie as having a “lot of verve and vigor” and that it was “technically excellent”.

“Minnale” catapulted Reema to stardom, having shared the spotlight with other known Indian movie stars such as Madhavan who played the role of Rajesh Shivakumar, Abbas as Rajiv Samuel, and Vivek as Chockalingam. Reema Sen was Reena Joseph.

Her other Tamil movies were “Jay Jay” and “Enakku 20 Unakku 18” in 2003, “Chellamae” and “Giri” in 2004, “Thimiru”, “Vallavan” and “Rendu” in 2006, “Aayirathil Oruvan” in 2010, and “Rajapattai” and a film by Rajkumar in 2011. She is clearly one of the busiest Indian actresses today, having starred in many other films in Telugu, Hindi and Bengali language. She also appeared in the music video, “Chandini Raatein”.

While she played several major roles in a number of top grossing Indian films, Reema gained infamy for having received obscenity charges from the Madurai court. Along with another sexy star, Shilpa Shetty, the actress was issued a non-bailable warrant for “posing in an obscure manner”. Although Bollywood (and Tollywood, for Telugu films) is now the second most popular movie industry in the world next to Hollywood, India maintains strict decency rules that are consistent with the country’s conservatism and religiosity.

Reema was issued a warrant for failing to comply with an earlier summon, again with Shilpa Shetty. The charge particularly pertains to the two actresses’ sexy photos that were published in Dinakaran, a leading Tamil newspaper. The petitioner claims that the famous female actors were shown in “very sexy blow-ups and medium blow-ups” in the newspaper’s December 2005 and January 2006 issues.

The petitioner also demands that the images be confiscated and retrieved so that the public may stop viewing it.  The demand for confiscation is allegedly based on the Press and Registration section of Book Act 1867. The demand claims that the images allegedly violated the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act 1986, the Indian Penal Code Section 292 (Sale of Obscene Books), and Young Persons (Harmful Publications) Act 1956.

However, Reema’s many sexy photos are found everywhere in the Internet. There are large collections of her even sexier photos in Cyberspace. Reema is truly one of the prettiest and hottest Indian stars today.

Yet, she clearly is not just a pretty face. Reema Sen has won two important acting awards. One was as Best Female Debut (2000) for “Minnale” and the other was as Most Entertaining Actress (2010) for “Aayirathil Oruvan”.

Not a few people know Ramya Sri; tons of people know her, as the actress has acted in around 250 films. Ramya Sri is a leading South Indian actress, a very popular figure with films made in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bhojpuri and Hindi languages. Her real name is Sujatha, but that is too common a name, and as it is true to most stars even in Hollywood, she needed a screen name, and so she chose Ramya Sri.

nnai and Kolkata. Needless to say, the actress is quite well known here. She was brought up in Visakhapatnam, finished her schooling and earned a college degree in this city before she became an actress in 1997.

One of the films she made in the Telugu language is “Bommana Brothers Chandana Sisters” in 2008. Ramya Sri was one of the female leads in this movie where she played as a housemaid. In the movie, the Bommana brothers were petty thieves who fell in love with the Chandana sisters.

This film didn’t do very well, yet Ramya Sri was able to pull off a good performance. Several reviews rated “Bommana Brothers Chandana Sisters” as average, but Ramya Sri’s performance as very good. The actress is best known for her comedic and sexy roles.

Fans love her charming face and voluptuous figure. She is also loved as a singer and dancer, especially for her sexy dance numbers, although she truly is a talented actor. Many fans and Internet “stalkers” love viewing, sharing and posting her online photos.

Ramya Sri

Another film she did in Telugu is “Aadi”. The voluptuous sexy actress played a minor role in this film that did much better than “Bommana Brothers”. “Aadi” received a number of good reviews and became a top grossing blockbuster in 2002.

Her other films in Telugu are Korukunna Priyudu (1997), Ammayilu Abbayilu (2003), Saradaga Prem Rajyam, Maharajasri (2007), and Kasepu (2010). She has not won any acting awards but her performances are always memorable, sometimes even more unforgettable than the films. Still on production are and Babala Bagotham, both to be released in 2012.

She also did a movie in Kannada called “Aryabhata”. It was a not a bad movie, but again Ramya Sri played only a minor role. In real life, Aryabhata is a well-known Indian mathematical genius.

Meanwhile, one of her Tamil movies is “Suryavamasam”, which was shot and shown in 1997. The leading actors were Sarath Kumar who played the character of Chinnarasu/Sakthivel Gounder, Devayani who played Nandini, and Raadhika as the wife of Sakthivel Gounder. The film did very well and was even adapted in Bollywood as “Sooryavansham”, which starred Amitabh Bachan and Soundarya.

“Suryavamasam” is a heartwarming movie about family, relationships and true love. It won the Best Director Award at the Filmfare Awards in 1997. It was a good film where once again Ramya Sri played a minor yet memorable role.

If you are from India, you should know Priya Vasudev Mani Iyer, better known as Priyamani.  Priyamani is merely her shorter and cuter stage name. If you are not from India, you should know her not only for her stunning good looks as an actress and model, but also because of her superb acting abilities.

Priyamani’s first major cinematic accomplishment was her portrayal of Muththazhagu, a young woman desperately in love with a man who didn’t love her in return, in the 2006 Tamil film, “Paruthi Veeran”.  Her character’s parents didn’t agree with her love and arranged for her to marry somebody else until it drove her into violent rage. It was a demanding role and Priyamani was perfect for it.

The classic love story was shot for two years on location in Madurai, the largest city in Tamil Nadu. It involved 60 new actors that were local talents in the Tamil state. Priyamani was the lead female character, opposite a newcomer Karthi, her love interest.

Released on February 23 2007, the film was critically acclaimed for tackling an issue about life in the pastures and about the Criminal Tribes Act of 1871.  It was warmly accepted by moviegoers and positively received by leading film critics. One of India’s well known film critics described the Priyamani starrer as a “remarkable effort” that “successfully brings alive the feel of the pastures”.

As expected, the Tamil movie did great at the box office and stayed as top movie only until it was replaced by the trendsetting Hollywood movie, “300”. Critics described Priyamani’s performance as “a fairly good job in her deglamourised role”. It was proven by several awards ceremonies, however, that her acting role in “Paruthi Veeran” was more than “fairly good” when the actress received Best Actress accolades.

In 2008, Priyamani won another Best Actress trophy for her role as Malavika in the movie, “Thirakkatha”, given by Filmfare Awards South. The movie was a romantic drama in Malayalam language.  The film won “Best Feature Film in Malayalam” by the National Film Award.

The next year, Priyamani was again nominated for the Best Actress Award for her portrayal of a character named Pooja in the Kannada film, ”Raam”. She didn’t win this time, though. The movie, which was a remake of the successful movie “Ready”, earned a ton of praises and positive reviews.

This super talented actress was yet again nominated twice in 2010 for two movies. The movies were “Raavan” (Hindi), where she played as Jamuni, and “Pranchiyettan and the Saint” (Malayalam) as Padmashree. Unfortunately, she didn’t win in either one.

“Raavan” was an important film that tackled relevant social issues. A Tamil version, “Raavanan” was aired simultaneously, as well as other dubbed versions in several regional languages. It opened on June 2010, and its premiere was shown in London.

The actress was born Priya Vasudev Mani Iyer in Palakkad, Kerala. She grew up in Bengalore and learned several regional languages such as Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Hindi. After her studies in Bengalore, she became a professional model for her gorgeous looks, and soon after, entered the movies.

Padmapriya Janakiraman or J. Padmapriya is a well known female movie actor and model in India. Her film debut was “Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi” in 2003 and in a short time after that, she had already starred in over 30 films. Before her movie stardom, however, she was first and foremost a dancer.

She was trained in the Tamil Bharatanatyam dance form and became very good at it. Trained under the famous dance guru, Natya Brahma V. S. Ramamurthy, Padmapriya was able to perform in more than 200 public dance events, which were her first exposures to the limelight. In one of these performances, she played the role of Lord Krishna for the Krishna Leela Ballet in 1990, and her performance still runs on TV even today during the Krishna Jayanti festivals.

Another dance performance that is still televised today is Nritya Rupam. It was especially choreographed by Jayalakshmi Eshwar at Delhi, and is now continuously televised by Delhi Doordarshan. If Padmapriya had not made it big in the movies, she could have been an Indian prima ballerina.

Her long exposure to dance and modeling made her transition to the Big Screen quite smooth. In her first film, “Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi”, she was already made to tackle a difficult role as the sexually exploited sister of a blind man. This Telugu movie was a remake of the Tamil film “Kasi”.

Her successful first performance made it easy for her to bag more leading role material, specifically in the Malayalam film industry. She starred in “Kaazcha” as a mother of two children who decided to adopt a third child, who was a victim of the Guajarat earthquake. In this movie, she played alongside Mammoothy, an already well-established movie superstar that time.

As expected, Padmapriya held her own and pulled off an amazing performance that earned many positive reviews. She won the Best Female New Face of the Year Award from Asianet. This easily catapulted her to stardom and she was featured in many other major films alongside Malayalam superstars Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi and Jayaram.

She made her first film in Tamil language in 2005. The dramatic movie was called “Thavamai Thavamirundhu” and it was about the relationships that bind a family, specifically that of a father and son. The movie received a National Film award for Best Film on Family Welfare from a major Indian award-giving body.

The successful 2005 movie not only garnered praises for itself but also for the lead actress. Padmapriya was named Best Debut Actress by Filmfare for her highly acclaimed screen performance. The movie became the most popular film of the year, and the actress’s highest-grossing film yet.

After solidifying her superstardom in 2005, Padmapriya made six movies in 2006. This included “Vadakkum Nathan”, “Vishnuvardhan” (a gangster film), “Pattiyal” (Tamil), and “Pooja Umashankar”, which became the highest grossing Tamil movie of the year. In 2007, she made seven more films.

In all, has received more than ten Best Actress Awards from different Indian award-giving organizations, and she is still a major star today. This “A” actress was born in Delhi and raised in Punjab. She was well educated and in fact at one time pursued an MBA in Finance at the Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies.

Madhuri Shankar Dixit is a popular Indian film actress who appeared in several Hindi films. She performed in several films in the 1980s and 1990s, and was considered an important leading actress in Hindi cinema and an accomplished dancer at the same time. She was once considered by the media one of the best female actors in Bollywood.

She was born in Mumbai to a Marathi Brahmin family. She went to Divine Child High School and studied Microbiology at the Mumbai University. Other than acting, she is a very good dancer and was in fact professionally trained in Kathak dance.

Every Indian cinema viewer recognizes Dixit, but for movie lovers who are not familiar with Bollywood films and actors, the best way to know Dixit is to know her many major film awards.  She won one Best Supporting Actress and four Best Actress awards. She holds the record for having the most number of Best Actress nominations at the Filmfare; a record that is not far from Meryl Streep’s in Hollywood.

Dixit appeared in a number of top grossing commercial films. Her face is one of the most recognized faces in all of India. In 2008, the Government of India honored her with the Padma Shri Award, which is the country’s fourth-highest civilian award.

Her first film was “Abodh” in 1984. Produced by Rajshri Production, “Abodh” was not a cinematic success but people began to take notice of the beautiful new actress. She had a number of minor supporting roles after “Abodh” until she hit it big with “Tezaab” (1988). She was the lead actor in “Tezaab” from which she received her first Filmfare nomination.

Her film choices suddenly became high quality. Her next films were “Ram”, “Tridev”, “Lakhan” and “Parinda”. But it was in 1990 that she starred in her first major film and earned her first major film award.

Dixit played the character of an arrogant rich girl who left all of her wealth and fortune after she fell in love with a poor boy. It was such a moving and convincing performance that she won her first Filmfare Best Actress Award. The film was Indra Kumar’s “Dil”, which became the biggest grossing movie in India in 1990.

After “Dil”, every Dixit starrer became a major Indian movie. Her string of successful films includes “Saajan” (1992), “Beta” (1992) “Khalnayak” (1993), “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun …!” (1994) and “Raja” (1995). “Beta” became an unforgettable classic and it was in this film where Dixit won her second Best Actress nod.
  

“Beta” gave this major actress a truly challenging role. Her character was a woman who married an illiterate but well-winning man. And just after a year, her next film, “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun …!” became one of the biggest movies in the history of Hindi cinema.

Madhuri Shankar Dixit made more movies and received more major awards after that. One of her most important citations was being named as one of the Best Bollywood Actresses Ever. Today, she may have passed her time but she is definitely not forgotten as she was named into the list of the “33 Women Who Made India Proud” in 2010 and the top 10 “Readers Choice: The Greatest Actresses of all Time” in 2011.

Kamalinee Mukherjee is a truly beautiful Indian actress who appeared in several Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada and Tamil language films. This gorgeous Bengali actress was born on March 4, 1980. She was born and raised in Kolkata, India.

Kamalinee (or Kamalini) is the eldest of three siblings. Her father was a marine engineer while her mother designed beautiful pieces of jewelry. Kamalinee had an early start in show business as she took part in several stage plays in school and college, and therefore fell in love with acting at an early age.

As a student, she also enjoyed poetry, painting and reading spiritual books. In 2004, just before she became an actress, she wrote and published online three poems titled “Thoughts”, “Confusion” and “Solitude”.  Because of her attempts in poetry, she was able to participate in an International Poetry Contest against more than 100 promising poets from around the world and attended a seminar in Washington DC that was highlighted by the Dalai Lama.

In addition to theater and poetry, she also loved to dance. She underwent years of training in an Indian classical dance called Bharata Natyam. This dance form, in which dancers move to Carnatic music and make poses to mimic a sculpture, is popular in South India among the Tamil people.

Bharata Natyam is also known as the “fire dance”. As she dances, Kamalinee is catapulted into a world of mysticism and manifestations, turning on the flames in one’s human body. This dance form is very spiritual.

After earning a degree in English Literature at Loreto College, Kamalinee made a few more interesting turns in life before she became a full-fledged actress. She studied Hotel Management, but left it to move on to Theater Arts in Mumbai. She began performing in theater and stage plays, taking on mostly male characters, and earned some money by working as a model for Neelkamal Furniture, Parachute, Fair and Lovely and Ayush.

She finally made her acting debut in 2004 in the critically acclaimed film, “Phir Milenge”. It was a touching movie that tackled the subject of AIDS. Immediately, producers and moviegoers took notice of the charming new young actress.

Her most challenging role was in the Telugu film, “Anand”. The movie is about a strong-willed young woman named Roopa who learned how to stand up for herself after her parents and other family members died from a tragic car accident. Roopa learns about relationships and eventually falls in love.

Kamalinee played the lead as Roopa, a truly beautiful character that was skillfully portrayed by this talented actress. Playing Roopa was quite a challenge for Kamalinee since she was Bengali and did not speak Telugu. The voice of Roopa was dubbed by another major Indian actress.

The extremely attractive Kamalinee Mukherjee enjoyed playing Telugu and moving from Bollywood to Tollywood. She said the only difference was the language. Since the multi-award winning movie, “Anand”, Kamalinee has become a major and well recognized Indian actress.

Bhumika Chawla is one Indian’s major female actors (and one of the most beautiful).  An award-winning Thespian, she has performed in over 30 films in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri and Malayalam language. She was born on August 21, 1978 to a Punjabi family in New Delhi; her father was an Army Officer and today, her brother is also an officer in the army.

She began her acting career in Mumbai in 1997 in several ad films, Hindi music video albums and TV appearances for Zee TV and “Hip Hip Hurray”. She then transitioned to the movies.  After that, the rest is history.

Her first film was Yuvakudu in 2000 where she played the love interest of the movie’s hero. This highly acclaimed drama is about a family of two – a mother and her son, and the struggles that ensued after the son fell in love with Bhumika’s character. The dramatic movie is filled with song and dance numbers.

The beautiful actress with sultry eyes went on to take on more engaging characters. Some of her earlier Telugu movies were “Khushi” in 2001, “Snehemante Idera” in 2001, and “Vasu” in 2002. “Khushi” was her first major break in the industry because with it she won her first major movie award as Filmfare Best Telugu Actress.

On the other hand, she starred in only three Tamil movies, which include the “Badiri” in 2001, “Roja Koottam” in 2002 and “Sillunu Oru Kaadhal” in 2006. In 2003, she won her second Best Actress Award for her role as Meghana in the Telugu film “Missamma”. She was the lead actor in “Missamma”, which was subtitled “She is the Boss”, pertaining to her character.

Still in 2003, Bhumika was nominated for Best Actress in Filmfare and Best Actress for Star Screen and won Best Female Debut in the Zee Cine Award all for the same movie, “Tere Naam”. It is a Hindi film where she played the role of Nirjara Bharadwaj. In another 2003 movie, “Aadanthe Ado Type”, she made a short special appearance.

She went on to make more Telugu and Hindi films and on 2007 won some more awards. In the same year she won a Nandi Special Jury Award for her performance in “Sathyabhama”.  She also got the Santosham Best Actress Award for “Anasuya”.

In 2010, she produced and starred in her own film, “Thakita Thakita”. The film is a coming of age story that focused on a group of college friends. The actress spent a fortune as the film’s producer and her film performed decently in the box office, although it was not a top grosser.

Her recent movies were “Bhramaram”, “Naa Style Veru”, and “Amaravathi” in 2009; and “Professor” and “Collector Gaari Bharya” in 2010. She is filming four projects to be released in 2011, including the much awaited “Classmates”. It is a remake of a popular Malayalam film of the same title.

On October 21, 2007, Bhumika Chawla married her long-time boyfriend Bharat Thakur. He was her Yoga instructor for a few years. The coupled dated for four years before tying the knot and they are happily married today.
